Statistics on private sector innovation have been conducted by the OECD for the past 20+ years. Gaining an equally systematic knowledge on public sector innovation serves to inspire public workplaces to become more innovative and efficient and as input to decision makers and further research.
Finally knowledge from the Barometer is an important base for COI’s other activities.
COI collected the first data-set regarding public sector innovation in Denmark in the years 2013-2014.
The results were published as a package of 12 thematic folders, videos, a report, a separate thematic analysis on education and municipalities, and a book available for download > (in Danish with introduction in English).
COI collected the second data-set regarding public sector innovation in 2015-2016 and are publishing the results continuously. in 2018, COI published a new handbook on public sector innovations created through collaboration – available for download here > (in Danish)
The InnovationBarometer is developed in collaboration with Statistics Denmark and The Danish Centre for Studies in Research and Research Policy. OECD has expressed an interest in developing the Oslo guidelines for collecting and interpreting technological innovation data to include public sector innovation.
